August 8, 2023 MLB Baseball Betting Cards details:
No changes to the Model.
A big day yesterday, possibly helped by the WSN rainout which turned the Round Robin bets with them into single game plays adding some more juice to the CWS and PIT victories.
Can the rough seas be put behind us and can the card achieve two days of victory in a row?
Today’s slate has 16 games including a doubleheader due to the WSN rainout. The threshold is 4 games bet, not including the F-OAKLAND automatic bet when Oakland plays.
- Currently only 2 games qualified for normal ML bets and I don’t trust Fangraphs projections for the doubleheader as they have different starters listed than the books. I’m going to wait until around noon to review projections and lines again.
- I’ll place stretch bets if nothing more qualifies before first pitch. I’ll also place a 3 unit total Round Robin bet on the top 4 games based on ML odds.

CARD is FINAL!
- Added both games of Doubleheader to card for WSN, also both will be added Round Robin
- CWS was +1 odd away from qualifying, but I don’t plan on monitoring for line movements later today. Also DK is offering a 50% boost on any game today. This helped get it over the edge although I couldn’t get my entire bet in under the boost. This will be a special STRETCH bet despite 4 main games already being qualified.
- I don’t track boosted odds on here as I try to reflect what most people should be able to achieve if they are following along and I know boosts are often tailored to the player and are not universally available. Also my strategy with boosts these days is to only really use them if it’s a bet I would normally make so any profits are extra money for my overall bankroll and losses no extra impact. This bet today would normally be a pass, but the razor thin margin of qualification felt worthwhile when combined with the boost.
